MK19 Grenade Machine Gun: Army Continues to Perform Semiannual DTI

Here’s news you must use to keep your MK19 correctly maintained. A TACOM message to LARs shared the following information.

Remember it’s important to perform all BEFORE, DURING, and AFTER PMCS checks listed in TM 9-1010-230-10 (Aug 12) to maintain a fully functioning weapon. There have been reports from the field of rounds jamming or detonating while operating the MK19. These malfunctions can be avoided with proper PMCS.

As a reminder to maintainers, although there was an effort to amend the TM to remove the MK19 semi-annual bolt and backplate detailed technical inspection (DTI), it does NOT apply to the Army; it only exempts the Marine Corps from performing this maintenance task.

Army maintainers will continue to perform this task in accordance with the MK19 maintenance TM 9-1010-230-23&P (Aug 12).
