Safety: Lethal Means Safety Can Reduce Suicides

BLUF: Secure personal weapons, prescription drugs and other lethal items to prevent potential for self-harm or danger to others.

“Lethal means safety” (or the safety of lethal means) is an approach to safety that advocates for storing items such as guns, prescription drugs and other items that could be used in a suicide attempt. Statistics show a 91% reduction in such attempts when lethal means are secured.
