I Sustain This: May 2023 Nominees

PS Magazine’s I Sustain This campaign is designed to recognize civilian sustainers who exemplify the highest standards while maintaining equipment to meet combat readiness requirements and stay in the fight, even under the most arduous of circumstances.
 
For May 2023, we had two (2) civilian sustainers nominated for this program. One was selected at random to receive the spotlight, and that individual was Christian Rivera of the 81st Readiness Division, Equipment Readiness Site 126, Puerto Rico. Also nominated was Lance Jemison from  the TACOM Fleet Management Expansion (FMX) office, Ft Gregg-Adams, VA.

Why does this person deserve recognition? Mr. Rivera supports 42 units here at Equipment Concentration Site 126. He's an excellent data manager within the Global Combat Support System-Army who has ensured that unit equipment is properly synchronized and laterally transferred in and out of the ECS's storage locations and coordinated with 1st Mission Support Command to receive and issue new equipment with zero deficiencies. He is constantly assisting the supply sergeants' issues and concerns dealing with unsynchronized data, incorrect serial numbers and daily opening and closing work orders supporting stored equipment. He is always willing to mentor and teach his co-workers. Mr. Rivera performs well above his position requirements and is always ready to go the extra mile. He also willingly adapts to change and constantly communicates the importance of safety regulations and the use of personnel protective equipment.
 
Additional Comments: He recently retired after 30-plus years in the Army reserve with multiple deployments to the Middle East. Mr. Rivera's efforts and his uncompromising technical proficiency contributed to the overall success of the 81ST Readiness Division mission.

Why does this person deserve recognition? Mr. Jemison maintains a wide array of fleets used by the training base at Ft Gregg-Adams' North Range. His attention to details and superior maintenance knowledge enables TACOM FMX Ordnance Division, North Range, to administer organizational maintenance procedures to accomplish the critical objectives of no missed training, while maintaining readiness rates above 90-percent fully missioned capable status, and adherence to funding goals. As an additional duty, Mr. Jemison administers the North Range Hazmat Environmental Program, which ensures compliance with installation and unit requirements.
