BLUF: PS Magazine’s Reader Service is here to help readers find answers and share their ideas.
Half-Mast
PS Magazine’s Reader Service has been around since our creation in 1951. In fact, MSG Half-Mast was answering Soldier’s questions even before
PS. He actually started back in 1944 as part of
Army Motors.
Through our Reader Service, we have the opportunity to help readers answer difficult questions, as well as offer possible solutions that can benefit the entire force. During 2022,
PS Magazine received 729 questions and ideas on topics ranging from aircraft to small arms.
The inquiries were not limited to one specific demographic group. Soldiers submitted 412 and civilians emailed us 317.

To break that down a little further, commissioned officers submitted 52, warrant officers 84 and enlisted Soldiers 276.
Military Breakdown
The 729 questions came from locations all around the globe and all from components. Active duty personnel led the way with 331 submissions, followed by the Army National Guard at 215 and 155 from Army Reserve Soldiers or civilian technicians.

If you were one of the inquirers or idea submitters in 2022 reflected in these numbers,
THANK YOU for allowing us to serve you.
Whether it’s answering your questions or getting your ideas reviewed and approved by the relevant life cycle management command, we make responding to reader inquiries a priority. In fact, we do our best to answer inquiries within 14 business days or less but since almost every inquiry—question or idea—must be sent to the appropriate subject-matter expert for input, it can take longer. However, we’ll keep you posted when that happens.
