M777A2 Towed Howitzers: Inspect Cannon Tube for Cracks Immediately

BLUF: All M777A2 howitzer cannon tube leveling pads and muzzle brake keyways must be inspected immediately for potential cracks.
 

Crewmen, inspect your M777A2 howitzer’s M776 cannon tube’s leveling pads and muzzle brake keyway right away for cracks.
 
Units have 45 days from August 9, 2023, to report compliance via the Modification Management Information System (MMIS).
 
A crack in the muzzle brake keyway will progress towards the bore and eventually the cannon tube will fail. That may cause serious damage the howitzer. Even worse, it could injure or cause death to personnel!
 
DO NOT continue to fire your howitzer if a crack is found. Report the findings to your nearest AMC LAR and TACOM immediately.
