Dear Half-Mast,
Due to the M17 Modular Handgun System (MHS) pistol fielding, all updates to the M9’s TM 9-1005-317-23&P (Feb 07) have been paused. When the TM is updated, two-level maintenance will be reflected in the maintenance allocation chart (MAC). Until then, here’s what you need to know.
WP 0006 of TM 9-1005-317-23&P only shows a need for BEFORE and AFTER PMCS. This is a bit misleading because there’s also a PMCS due every 90 days. The quarterly inspection is noted in the general section at the start of the PMCS. A 91F can complete the PMCS using the -23&P.
If a 91F isn’t available, then a trained unit armorer can complete the PMCS. The authority is the HQDA G-4 memo,
Exception to Policy for Trained Non-91F Unit Armorers to Conduct Quarterly Small Arms Services (Aug 20).
This exception to policy is good through 18 August 2022. You can get a copy of the memo at (you’ll need your CAC to view):

Thanks for the heads-up, Chiefs.
