Corrosion: Protect Hoses from Getting Hosed by the Sun

Don’t think your vehicle’s air or hydraulic hoses can fall victim to corrosion? Better think again! It’s called weathering and that spells corrosion.

In hot and dry climates during the summer months, the air and hydraulic hoses on your vehicles can become dry, cracked and brittle. That’s because UV rays from the sun bake the hoses.

You can slow down the weathering process for ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and urethane-based hoses with rubber preservative. Get the rubber preservative using NSN 8030-01-282-5626; it brings a 1-gal can for $585.86.
