MEDEVAC: TM Part Number Correction for Bumper/Spring Assembly

MEDEVAC in Hanger

Mechanics,

We’ve got an important correction for you.

TM 1-1520-237-23&P (Jan 19) shows the rescue hoist’s crushable bumper/spring assembly as Item 23 in Fig 14-4 of WP 3415. The TM lists NSN 5340-01-512-0408 and PN BL-12750-3 for this item. TM 1-1520-280-23&P (Feb 19) gives the same information, except the crushable bumper/spring assembly is shown as Item 24.

Both TMs list the wrong part number.

Incorrect part number, BL-12750-3, is a shorter, crushable bumper. It was replaced by PN BL-15975-3 based on Alert Service Bulletin (ASB) BL-12756-1-A25-01 in 2002. FED LOG doesn’t list this replacement part number under the current NSN and that’s caused some problems when units try to order the part.

So make a note that PN BL-15975-3 is correct for the rescue hoist’s crushable bumper/spring assembly.

By the way, the MEDEVAC office is aware of the issue and has submitted 2028s for updates to the TMs. They’re working with the item managers to ensure the NSN relates to the correct PN for the hoist’s crushable bumper/spring assembly.  That should stop confusion when placing future orders.
